My Media Magnet’s Favourite 10 Social Media Sites – YouTube (7 of 10)

At this point in time even if you haven’t taken the time to visit YouTube and look around their extensive library, you’ve most likely still seen a YouTube video somewhere. YouTube has tons of videos in the way of entertainment, but they also have a wealth of educational and informative videos. It’s a great place to do research or find a ‘How To’. If you have a blog, YouTube makes it super easy to put a video right into your post!

Here are a few more reasons we love YouTube:

  • Founded in 2005, YouTube is a leader in online video
  • Every minute, 20 hours of video is uploaded from the site
  • A premier destination to watch and share original videos worldwide through a web experience
  • YouTube‘s user base is 18-55 years of age, evenly divided between males and females, and spanning all geographies
  • Allows people to easily upload and share video clips on www.YouTube.com and across the Internet through websites, mobile devices, blogs and email
  • Provides a forum for people to connect, inform and inspire others across the globe and act as a distribution platform for original content creators and advertisers regardless of size
  • Community is truly in control on YouTube and they determine what is popular on the site
  • Allows you to record from a mobile or webcam
  • Wholesale access to YouTube‘s extensive video library, worldwide audience and the underlying video hosting and streaming infrastructure that powers the site; giving users another way to engage in the world of video

YouTube is being increasingly used by businesses as a marketing platform and as aSocial Media Optimization tool. I was at a marketing workshop today where claims were made that one day all websites will be video so get involved in this future wave now!
